I have had the great pleasure to work with Lorraine Jones over the past 2 years and aside from being the most knowledgeable in Reverse Mortgages she has proven over and over to be one of the most thoughtful and caring person that I have had the opportunity to work with. We recently worked together in representing a handicapped woman wherein Lorraine selected me to sell her home in Redondo Beach and upon that sale Lorraine would provide a Reverse Mortgage for her to purchase a new condominium. Shout out to Peter Stephan- our illustrious Tax Resolution Go To Person. Peter, at SST Tax Resolution helps clients reduce their mind boggling, excessive tax assessments to a small fraction of what the taxing agencies originally wanted. About six months ago, Peter had a client who needed his expertise. Peter realized that the former accountant for the business overlooked the fact that significant tax credits( Research and Development Expenses –“R&D”)-in the hundreds of thousands of dollars- were available and were not used to reduce prior years’ tax liabilities. Peter asked Marcum to assist him in researching the “R&D” expenditures, from the accounting records, and analyze and determine the exact amounts available for use. We were able to commence work within a few days (there was a 10 day Statute of Limitations deadline) of his call. This resulted in insignificant tax recoveries, as well as the availability of credits to be used against future tax liabilities. Marcum and I thank Peter for the opportunity to work with him on this case
